FRONT
It's that time of year when lights become even more important and necessary more often given daylight savings time. Last year I got
Night Rider's MiNewt Mini-USB. It's a great light and I would definitely recommend it.
The price is $99 and at first glance that may seem like a lot if you're used to buying non rechargeable battery lights. However over the life of this MiniNewt you will save $200 in batteries and have a far superior light. This thing really throws a lot of light (110 lumens) for the price. The older I get the more important that is. Though I have a wheel with a dynamo hub I just found that as good as that set up was....I just need more light for these old eyes.
The Li-ion battery is rechargable through an electrical outlet or a USB port and you don't have to worry about overcharging as with previous generation rechargeable batteries. It has a 3 hour run time. It's lightweight at 175 grams. For $129 it comes with a helmet mounting system.
REAR
On the Salsa I have a
Planet Bike Superflash tail light clipped to a seat bag. This too is a great light with the superflash mode being very bright.

On the Surly I have the
Blackburn Mars 3.0 attached to my rear rack. I just picked this one up because it has side LED’s for lateral visibility and it also attaches to rear racks which surprisingly not all tail lights do....at least easily.
So what lights do you use?
